Odor isn't a smell you can outrun with air freshener — it's particles physically embedded in drywall, insulation, and fabric. Fire Damage Laser Cleaning's Odor Removal specialists in Minnetonka, MN match the treatment method — thermal fogging, ozone, or hydroxyl generation — to the smoke classification found during inspection.
Ozone treatment is powerful but requires the space to be vacated during and briefly after; hydroxyl generation is gentler and can run while the property stays occupied. Choosing the right one for your Minnetonka property depends on timeline, occupancy, and how deeply the odor has set in.

Treatment starts with finding the actual odor source, not guessing based on which room smells strongest.
We don't run one generic deodorization process — the method depends on how deep the odor has penetrated.
The longer odor sits untreated, especially in warm weather, the more it bonds into porous surfaces.
We test air quality after treatment rather than relying on how the space smells to the nose alone.
Minnetonka customers sometimes ask why a $30 ozone generator from a hardware store didn't solve their odor problem the way a professional treatment does, and the difference usually comes down to both equipment output and knowing which technology actually fits the situation.
Consumer-grade ozone units typically run at a fraction of the output of commercial equipment, which means they can mask odor temporarily without ever reaching full saturation.
We've also had Minnetonka customers who ran a consumer unit while still living in the home, which reduces effectiveness significantly since ozone works best in a sealed, unoccupied space — a mistake our technicians are trained to avoid by choosing the right technology for occupied versus vacant properties.
Thermal fogging follows the same path smoke traveled, reaching cracks and crevices that surface cleaning misses.
Ozone is our strongest option for heavy odor, used when the property can be vacated during treatment.
For occupied homes or businesses, hydroxyl generators treat odor safely without requiring anyone to leave the property.
Where materials can't be fully treated, we apply an odor-blocking sealant before repainting to prevent residual odor from resurfacing.
We deodorize the HVAC system directly, since skipping it means treated rooms can smell like smoke again within days.
Curtains, upholstery, and carpet get a dedicated odor treatment pass since fabric holds smoke smell longer than hard surfaces.
Our intake call at +1-866-484-1409 helps determine which treatment method is likely needed before the crew even arrives.
A Odor Removal specialist typically reaches Minnetonka properties within the day, equipped for on-site odor source testing.
Assessment determines whether fogging, ozone, or hydroxyl generation fits your Minnetonka property's situation, priced accordingly.
The Odor Removal job wraps only once a verification test shows the odor has genuinely cleared, not just faded.
