A house that still smells like smoke weeks later almost always has residue trapped somewhere air alone can't reach. Fire Damage Laser Cleaning's Odor Removal specialists in Fairfax, MN match the treatment method — the right deodorization technology — to the smoke classification found during inspection.
Ozone breaks down odor molecules effectively but requires an unoccupied space and proper ventilation afterward, while hydroxyl generators work more slowly but are safe to run around people and pets. Choosing the right one for your Fairfax property depends on timeline, occupancy, and how deeply the odor has set in.

We locate exactly where residual odor is trapped — wall cavities, ductwork, insulation — before choosing a treatment method.
Thermal fogging, ozone, and hydroxyl generation are all available, chosen based on occupancy needs and severity.
The longer odor sits untreated, especially in warm weather, the more it bonds into porous surfaces.
A follow-up reading confirms odor molecules have actually dropped, not just been temporarily masked.
Fairfax customers sometimes ask why a $30 ozone generator from a hardware store didn't solve their odor problem the way a professional treatment does, and the difference usually comes down to both equipment output and knowing which technology actually fits the situation.
A hardware-store ozone generator often lacks the output needed to fully treat a room, which is why the smell tends to return within days.
We've also had Fairfax customers who ran a consumer unit while still living in the home, which reduces effectiveness significantly since ozone works best in a sealed, unoccupied space — a mistake our technicians are trained to avoid by choosing the right technology for occupied versus vacant properties.
Thermal fogging follows the same path smoke traveled, reaching cracks and crevices that surface cleaning misses.
For severe, deeply-set odor, ozone generators break down odor molecules at a chemical level, run in an unoccupied space for a set period.
For occupied homes or businesses, hydroxyl generators treat odor safely without requiring anyone to leave the property.
Where materials can't be fully treated, we apply an odor-blocking sealant before repainting to prevent residual odor from resurfacing.
We deodorize the HVAC system directly, since skipping it means treated rooms can smell like smoke again within days.
Curtains, upholstery, and carpet get a dedicated odor treatment pass since fabric holds smoke smell longer than hard surfaces.
Our intake call at +1-866-484-1409 helps determine which treatment method is likely needed before the crew even arrives.
A Odor Removal specialist typically reaches Fairfax properties within the day, equipped for on-site odor source testing.
Assessment determines whether fogging, ozone, or hydroxyl generation fits your Fairfax property's situation, priced accordingly.
We test air quality after treatment and won't close the job until readings confirm the odor is actually resolved.
