A house that still smells like smoke weeks later almost always has residue trapped somewhere air alone can't reach. Fire Damage Laser Cleaning's Odor Removal specialists in West Friendship, MD match the treatment method — the right deodorization technology — to the smoke classification found during inspection.
Ozone treatment is powerful but requires the space to be vacated during and briefly after; hydroxyl generation is gentler and can run while the property stays occupied. Choosing the right one for your West Friendship property depends on timeline, occupancy, and how deeply the odor has set in.

Treatment starts with finding the actual odor source, not guessing based on which room smells strongest.
We don't run one generic deodorization process — the method depends on how deep the odor has penetrated.
The longer odor sits untreated, especially in warm weather, the more it bonds into porous surfaces.
We test air quality after treatment rather than relying on how the space smells to the nose alone.
West Friendship customers sometimes ask why a $30 ozone generator from a hardware store didn't solve their odor problem the way a professional treatment does, and the difference usually comes down to both equipment output and knowing which technology actually fits the situation.
Consumer-grade ozone units typically run at a fraction of the output of commercial equipment, which means they can mask odor temporarily without ever reaching full saturation.
Running ozone equipment in an occupied space, which is common with consumer units, limits how thoroughly it can actually treat the air — a mistake our technicians are trained to avoid by choosing the right technology for occupied versus vacant properties.
Thermal fogging follows the same path smoke traveled, reaching cracks and crevices that surface cleaning misses.
For severe, deeply-set odor, ozone generators break down odor molecules at a chemical level, run in an unoccupied space for a set period.
Hydroxyl technology works more gradually but lets a West Friendship family stay in their home during treatment.
Encapsulation seals in any odor that couldn't be fully removed from a porous surface like subfloor or framing.
Ductwork gets treated separately since it continually recirculates trapped odor particles through the whole house.
Soft materials require separate treatment because they absorb and hold odor more stubbornly than drywall or trim.
Our intake call at +1-866-484-1409 helps determine which treatment method is likely needed before the crew even arrives.
Our team arrives ready to test for odor source location and begin treatment planning immediately.
The technician identifies the odor source and recommends the appropriate technology, with pricing based on treatment type and square footage.
The Odor Removal job wraps only once a verification test shows the odor has genuinely cleared, not just faded.
